Director, cinematographer: KIM LONGINOTTO

Director, editor: DOROTHEA GAZIDIS

In her graduation film, Kim Longinotto deals with the girls' boarding school in an old, isolated castle in Buckinghamshire where her parents sent her as a teenager and from which she ran away at the age of 17. Longinotto shows the boarding school as a kind of a miniature state with bizarre rules, indigestible food and absurd and unjust punishments. From the perspective of the students still living there, she exposes the educational system of this institution as a repressive world full of unacceptable regulations. One year after the release of Pride of Place, the boarding school was closed down.
